Hospital Charges

SCMH Charges – A Guide to Transparency

The pricing link below allows patients to review the standard charges and estimate charges for inpatient and outpatient services provided at Smith County Memorial Hospital. The charges are the same for all patients. However, the patient’s financial responsibility for services provided may vary significantly from the charged prices. Factors impacting this variance include the following:

  1. Reimbursement schedules and billing rules imposed by government payers, including Medicare, Medicaid and the Veterans’ Administration.
  2. Contractual relationships between the hospital and other insurance payers which may limit coverage or payment for services.
  3. The patient’s individual health plan contract, including deductibles, co-payments and coinsurance. The extent to which the patient has met policy limits will affect the patient’s out of pocket financial responsibility, but not the charges themselves.

Patients who have questions about hospital charges or their bills for services should contact our patient accounts staff at (785) 282-6845.

Please note that the charges listed here do not constitute a contract between the patient and the hospital. These charges also do not include items or services billed separately by visiting physicians or providers or for services such as pathology, radiology, or other professional services provided by outside entities.
