Allen Van Driel, CEO
Allen Van Driel, FACHE has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Smith County Memorial Hospital in Smith Center, Kansas since 2013. Smith County Memorial Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital with an associated Rural Health Clinic. Prior to joining SCMH, he served in a variety of healthcare related positions for more than 30 years. Those positions included service as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer in three Critical Access Hospitals in Nebraska. Earlier, he served in clinical positions in Respiratory Care in Nebraska and Colorado. Additionally, he has more than 30 years of experience in Emergency Medical Services, most of it as a volunteer. He has served as a clinical adjunct faculty member for education programs in Respiratory Care, EMS, and Nurse Anesthesia.
Mr. Van Driel has served in leadership roles in state and national healthcare organizations, including the American Hospital Association, the Nebraska Hospital
Association, the Kansas Hospital Association, the National Rural Health Association, the Nebraska Rural Health Association, and the Nebraska and Colorado Associations for Respiratory Care. He served in the U.S. Air Force for six years as a linguist, including assignments on a combat reconnaissance aircrew. Mr. Van Driel holds a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He and his wife, Donna, have three adult children.
