Our professional team of board-certified physicians, nurses and technicians are equipped to handle a comprehensive range of urgent medical conditions and injuries, routine illnesses, and general medical services.



Cardiac Stress testing, both with and without nuclear perfusion imaging, as well as ambulatory heart rhythm and event monitoring are available to outpatients as needed.



Rehabilitative services for patients suffering from cardiovascular, neuromuscular, musculoskeletal/orthopedic disorders, disabilities, or pain management are provided by our professional staff. Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants, and an Occupational Therapist prepare and implement care plans for inpatients and outpatients. Services are available Monday through Friday.



Cardiac Rehabilitation involves monitored exercise programs designed to strengthen and add endurance for patients who have undergone heart surgery, have suffered a heart attack, or suffer from congestive heart failure. This service to outpatients is offered on a scheduled basis Monday through Friday.



Outpatient diagnostic testing of lung function, including spirometry, lung volume measurement, bronchospasm evaluation, and diffusing capacity is available to outpatients on a scheduled basis Monday through Friday.



Monitored exercise and muscle retraining, designed to improve the lifestyle and function of patients with breathing disorders, is available on an outpatient basis Monday through Friday.



Diagnostic testing to determine the presence of breathing disorders while sleeping is provided on a scheduled outpatient basis. Determination of appropriate therapy for patients with diagnosed sleep disorders.



Services to treat various wounds that do not heal properly, including diabetic skin lesions, pressure ulcers, and other wounds are provided by specially trained nursing staff, in conjunction with physicians and a nurse practitioner with specialty training in wound management. The service is available weekly, with dressing change assistance available between clinic visits.



Our nursing staff consists of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Certified Nursing Assistants. They are the backbone of the quality care provided to patients admitted to the hospital. Regardless of severity of illness, or intensity of nursing care required, our outstanding staff provides excellent care that is highly rated by our patients. We care for you as our neighbors, friends, and family.



Our Emergency Department is staffed with a dedicated, highly qualified nursing staff 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Designated in 2015 as a Level IV Trauma Center by the State of Kansas, our dedication to emergency care of injured patients is second to none in the area. As participants in the Kansas Heart and Stroke Collaborative, our medical providers and nursing staff use the latest evidence-based protocols, drugs, and techniques to treat individuals with cardiovascular emergencies. Regardless of the type of emergency, we’re here to help.



Our surgical staff supports a variety of local providers and visiting specialists in performing general surgical, obstetrical, gynecological, urologic and ophthalmological procedures. Staffed to perform scheduled procedures on a daily basis, we also have staff on call to perform emergency procedures 24 hours per day.



Anesthesia services are available 24 hours per day at Smith County Memorial Hospital. Surgical anesthesia, epidural pain control for childbirth, and chronic pain management using steroid epidural blocks are provided by a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. The CRNA also assists with emergency airway management for patients with trauma or medical emergencies



Four Family Medicine Physicians, along with our specialized obstetrical nursing staff, provide a full range of prenatal and OB services. Childbirth education, labor and delivery services, breastfeeding support, newborn hearing screening, excellent care of newborns and car seat fitting are all provided in a family-friendly atmosphere. Scheduled and emergent Cesarean Sections are provided by our physicians, anesthesia staff, and obstetrical and surgical nursing staff.



Diagnostic testing of specimens is provided for inpatients and outpatients around the clock. Blood chemistry, hematology, coagulation studies, and urinalysis are performed on site for our local and specialty medical staff. Blood products are available on-site to meet emergency needs. Medical laboratory services are often the foundation of a patient’s diagnosis.



A full range of diagnostic imaging is provided through our Diagnostic Imaging department. Certified Technologists provide X-Ray, Computed Tomography (CT), Diagnostic Ultrasound, Full Field Digital Mammography, and Bone Densitometry
in-house. Additional mobile services include MRI, Nuclear Imaging, Echocardiography, and PET CT. Locally operated Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), coupled with high-speed secure Internet connectivity, allow consulting Radiologists to provide near real-time interpretation of images.
