Ways to Give
There are always ways to give at SCMH. Fundraising is ongoing for projects that allow us to reside in a beautiful facility. We have a multitude of services available to our communities. CEO, Allen Van Driel, says, “The most urgent needs will be replacing outdated equipment as manufacturers end service contracts.” After a manufacturer ends a service contract, there are very few ways to get a replacement part or an adequate repair. There is no intention to allow any piece of equipment to go past the point of service before it is repaired. The administration is proactive in planning for new equipment purchases.
SCMH has set up a fund to be used to purchase new or update existed equipment. Like other industries, technology in healthcare is changing rapidly. “We want to be forward-thinking so that we know what we can afford and be aware of new technologies,” Van Driel says. Changes in equipment also means that staff need to be trained to operate it. Staff have the opportunity to be included in conversations about new technologies. This allows them to have a say in the choices made while staying within a reasonable budget.
We also know we need to continue to invest in our most valuable asset, our human resources. Our “Grow Our Own” program allows us to help employees achieve the next level in their career or become certified in a new skill. This fund also gives us the opportunity to recruit and train staff members in some of the more technical roles like imaging or laboratory which can be difficult to fill.
SCMH is now accepting online donations or will accept mail or in-person contributions. To donate or talk about ways to give, please contact us at (785) 282-6845 for details.
Every dollar raised by our community supports a healthier Smith County for decades to come.
“Our communities have a long-standing history of incredible support. We hope that they see the benefit to themselves when they give to the hospital fund.” – Allen Van Driel, CEO
