SCMH Fundraiser Tickets on Sale

Hospital Fundraiser Silent AuctionSMITH CENTER, Kan. – Smith County Memorial Hospital will host its annual fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Smith Center Armory.

Tickets, which are on sale now, cost $15 and include a meal and admission to both a silent and live auction. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the meal will be served at 6:30.

Local businesses and individuals generously provide items for auction. In the past, items have included everything from quilts, woodworking and other artwork to football tickets and trash removal.

The planned meal is an SCMH tradition of smoked pork chop, baked potato, green beans, roll and dessert. For those that want to support the hospital, but are unable to come to the event, meals can be delivered if ordered by Sept. 20.

Proceeds from this year’s event will go to the purchase of new laboratory equipment as well as two sleeper sofas for the labor and delivery department.

An Ortho Workstation is used by lab staff for blood banking. The new piece of equipment will replace an outdated one that is no longer serviced by the manufacturer. The workstation allows the lab to support obstetrics and emergency room patients without the need to send away for blood products.

Sleeper sofas will provide more comfort to guests of patients who are staying overnight. They will be used primarily in obstetrics for the families of laboring mothers and newborns and can be moved to another area of the facility based on need.
