SCMH Staff Welcomes First Baby of 2022

Pack FamilySMITH CENTER, Kan. – The first baby born in 2022 at Smith County Memorial Hospital arrived on Monday, Jan. 3. Ridge Burnett Pack is the son of Shawna and Adam Pack of Russell County.

“We are pleased that the reputation of our providers brings families from all over north central Kansas to our facility for care,” said Allen Van Driel, CEO of the hospital. “Healthcare, like many industries, has become more regional and a patient’s comfort level is a driving factor in who and from where they receive care.”

The facility in Smith Center is one of only a few in a 100-mile radius that provides OB services and all five physicians participate OB care from prenatal to postnatal appointments.

“We’re thrilled to have the Pack family as part of the SCMH family and happy to celebrate with them on the birth of their son,” Van Driel said.
